Terms of use

Incubator is a writing platform operated by Black Sky (“we”) on an ongoing best-effort basis. Our purpose is curation more than it is moderation: we would rather surface good work than police bad behaviour, and we hope people can just be cool about this. These terms exist for when they cannot.

Conduct

Follow local and international law, and a code of conduct that does not violate other users’ rights: no harassment, no impersonation, no spam, no publishing anyone’s private information.

NSFW content is forbidden in public spaces. Private spaces allow more freedom, but illicit material and sexually explicit material present a significant long-term problem for the service and are not welcome there either.

Accounts

You must be 18 or older to register. You are responsible for your account and for keeping its credentials to yourself. By registering you agree to follow these terms.

Your content

You own what you write. By publishing on the service you grant Black Sky a non-exclusive licence to host, display and distribute your content as needed to operate the service; the licence ends when the content is deleted.

Membership

Reading, following and bookmarking are free. Writing, commenting and projects are for members: a one-time fee of 1 EUR / 1 USD. A recurring supporter plan opens later; its fee goes toward the development and hosting of the service. While payments are not open, joining a list on the pricing page grants the membership and records which plan you pay for when they are.

Fees are not refunded. The one-time fee buys the writing features for the lifetime of the account, and cancelling a supporter subscription keeps the membership: stepping back loses nothing you use.

Enforcement

We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these terms. We prefer not to; see the first paragraph.

The service

The service is provided as-is, on an ongoing best-effort basis, with no warranty of availability. Features may change or be discontinued. Changes to these terms are announced on this page.
